  • Date and time you access our site and amount of time you spent on the site.

1. Will The Family Disclose the Information It Collects to Outside Parties?

Except as set forth in this Privacy Policy, The Family does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. However, we may provide aggregate statistics about our customers, web traffic patterns, and related site information to third parties. These statistics will include no personally-identifying information. The Family may also release your information when we believe, in good faith, that such release is reasonably necessary to accomplish certain business functions utilizing third-party vendors, comply with the law, enforce contest, sweepstakes, promotions, and/or game rules, or protect the rights, property or safety of The Family, our users, or others.

2. What Information Do We Collect? How Do We Use It?

Voluntary Information You Provide Us

If you contact us by email; complete our registration forms, surveys, or entry forms; subscribe to our services or newsletters; give us a shout-out in our app, or participate in one of our contests or sweepstakes; we will ask you for information. The information we ask for may include contact information (such as your name and email address) and/or demographic information (such as your zip code or age). Below you will find descriptions of how The Family may use these types of information.

Registration Data

Registration data is voluntary information provided directly by you in order to receive optional access to certain services or site areas and which may include personally identifiable information such as your name, age, email address, zip code, or telephone number. In addition, registration data may include preference information such as usernames, passwords, desired newsletters, etc. Here are some of the ways we might use that information:

  • To deliver services such as newsletters, etc., and other items that you request or purchase
  • To help us create and deliver the content that is most relevant to you
  • To alert you to news, events, contests, and other items if you so request
  • To allow you entrance into restricted areas of the site, as appropriate
  • To send you information about The Family and our website, as well as updates and features to our app and social media engagement

Voice Data

If you enable the voice control features for one of our products on your device we will collect audio recordings and transcripts of what you say when you interact with one of our voice features. For example, you may be able to use your voice to interact with select audio advertisements or to search, select, and listen to music, as well as use our ShoutOut feature to enter contests or interact with us or enable a Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa device to play music from our station.

When you use our ShoutOut feature, we will collect your voice input and other information you share with us. By sending a recording of your voice to us through our ShoutOut feature, you give us express permission for its use, including the permission to edit and modify the recording as may be necessary. You also give us permission to use your voice on the radio for promotional purposes, including but not limited to fundraising and other on-air advertisement and promotional opportunities.

You will be required to use voice data to access live streaming with Google Assistant. When you say “Hey Google, talk to The Family Appleton,” “Hey Google, talk to The Family Green Bay,” “Hey Google, talk to The Family Wausau,” “Hey Google, talk to The Family Sheboygan,” or ” “Hey Google, talk to The Family Eau Claire,” your voice data will be collected and is required to play our stream on your device.

You will be required to use voice data to enable smart skills with Amazon Alexa. When you say play “The Family Appleton,” “The Family Green Bay,” “The Family Wausau,” “The Family Sheboygan,” or ” “The Family Eau Claire,” your voice data will be collected and is required to play our stream on your device.

Surveys

Sometimes The Family posts optional surveys in which we ask for personally identifiable information. Here are some ways we might use that information:

  • To send you information about The Family and our website
  • To help us create and deliver the content that is most relevant to you
  • To help improve the use of our app
  • To help improve participation and engagement in our social media platforms

The choice is yours — you don’t have to answer surveys, but if you do, please understand that the information you provide will be used by The Family.

Contests and Sweepstakes

From time to time, The Family runs contests and sweepstakes in which we ask for personally identifiable information such as your name, age, email address, or telephone number. That’s so we can determine if you’re eligible for the contest and let you know if you win. Sometimes we request additional information such as your gender and marital status, or we require a voice recording as part of a shout-out contest. Here are some of the ways we might use the information that we collect:

  • To determine if you’re eligible for the contest
  • To notify you if you’re a winner
  • To send you information about The Family and our website
  • To help us create and deliver the content that is most relevant to you
  • To help us with promotional spots we run on-air or share as part of social media or use on our website or within the app.

Donor Privacy Policy:

We could not operate without our donors. To show our gratitude we make every effort to ensure the confidentiality and protection of Donor Information.

Except for your name, we will keep all Donor Information confidential, unless you provide us written consent to release the Donor Information or we are otherwise permitted in this Privacy Policy. “Donor Information” includes the amount of the gift, the type of the gift, your address, and phone number, or any other information for which there is a reasonable expectation of privacy and/or confidentiality. During our on-air fundraisers and events, your first name and city will be shared on-air, unless you request to be anonymous.

If a donation is specifically given to sponsor a specific on-air feature or program, a list of only these donors must be published to our online public inspection file per rules given by the Federal Communications Commission.

If You Contact Us

We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive from you. Unless you tell us otherwise, such email addresses are not used for any other purpose.

What About “Cookies”?

“Cookies” are small pieces of information that are stored by your Web browser on your computer’s hard drive. From time to time our Web site may place cookies on your computer’s hard drive that enable our systems to recognize your browser and provide you with certain features. The use of cookies also provides information about your Web usage, which helps us compile demographic and statistical information about visitors who are utilizing our Web site. 4. Public Forums

This site makes message boards (i.e. prayer wall) and/or news groups available to its users. Any information you disclose in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. We cannot safeguard the privacy of any such information you choose to disclose online in this manner and you must do so carefully and at your own risk.

5. Confirmed Opt-in

The Family acquires no personal or registration data about our users except what you explicitly and voluntarily provide (i.e., opt-in). We reserve the right to use this information specifically for the purposes related to your registration and generally for any necessary future communication regarding your registration status.

6. Links to Other Sites

When you visit thefamily.net, or any of its network stations, you may be linked to other outside sites. This includes links to sites operated by advertisers, sponsors, and partners that may use The Family logo as part of an agreement with thefamily.net. These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data, or solicit personal information. These other sites may be developed by people over whom The Family exercises no control and, as such, are not subject to The Family Privacy Policy. The Family is not responsible for the privacy policies of these other sites, nor for the use of any information that these sites may collect.

7. Children’s Privacy

Naturally, the safety of children is very important to us. The Family will not knowingly accept personal information from children under the age of 13 without first obtaining written parental consent. If we become aware of such information without parental consent, it will be permanently deleted from our database.

When you sign your child ages 3-12 up for The Family Birthday Club, you provide parental consent for us to have your child’s data in order for us to contact your child by mail with their birthday card. You also consent to allow us to read your child’s first name and their city on air on their birthday. Your child’s information will remain safe and secure.

Children Under the Age of 13:  

Our Website is not intended for children under 13 years of age. No one under the age 13 may provide any information to or on the Website. Therefore, we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13.
