2 cups Epson salt
½ cup baking soda
a few drops of essential oil (optional)
1 Tblsp. glycerin (optional)
Mix it up in a glass bowl or stainless steel pan. (breathe deep, smells good!) Spoon it into pretty jars, tie a ribbon around the lid.
Have some fun and make pretty labels of gift tags.
Use ¼ to ½ cup per bath.
If you’re making it for a gift, don’t forget to make enough for yourself!
Both the glycerin and essential oil are optional, but both go a long way in soothing the dry skin of this long winter. The essential oil makes it smell yummy and helps to relax you or refresh your spirit.
IF you use the oils, it will settle over time and you’ll need to shake the jar to remix. You will also need to rinse out the tub after your soak!
~ This makes a great gift, and the more you make the more economical it is. Get together with a friend or two and make it, bottle it, and share!
~ Epsom Salt is found in the grocery store and well known for adding to your bath to soften the skin and relax sore muscles. Far more affordable than expensive boutique packages marked “bath salts” when mixed at home.
~ Essential oil and glycerin found at craft/hobby, health/nutrition stores, or some drugstores. Essential oils can be a bit pricey, but go a long ways and have many uses. Choose lavender, orange, patchouli, peppermint . . . vanilla?
~ I did add a bit of food coloring, with mixed results. When I do it again, I think I’ll try some crushedS flower petals.
