Wonderful bacon - lightly glazed, crisp, and very tasty!
1 pound thick sliced bacon
2 Tbls. to 1/4 cup brown sugar
Heat oven to 425 degrees.
Coat bacon slices with brown sugar, pat or rub sugar into each slice.
(Jan puts bacon in a plastic bag, adds sugar, and smooshes it all together!)
Place single layer of coated bacon slices on to a foil-lined jelly roll pan.
Bake 12-15 minutes, until bacon is browned and crisp.
Might want to drain off excess grease if pan’s accumulating too much.
Also, once bacon starts to brown, you can turn oven down to 350 degrees to slow the process and avoid burning the sugar glaze.
Drain bacon on paper towels and serve at once.
Pecan Sugared Bacon: add 1/3 cup finely chopped pecans to sugar mixture.
Sugar and Spice Bacon: add 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard powder to sugar and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Sugar and Spice Bacon: sprinkle with ground red (cayenne) pepper.
For snacks or appetizers: Cut bacon slices into thirds before baking.
